Are You Kidding Me?

I seriously think Larry Langford has lost his ever-loving mind. The Olympics? In Birmingham? Haha! The Olympics were just held in Beijing...a city of 14 million. Birmingham...a city of 1 million. Come on, is he kidding? Now I understand why he's wasting so much money on fountains...because of course, to have the Olympics in Birmingham, we must have fountains. Lots of them. To hold the estimated 184589342 (that's the real number, I googled it.) people that attended the 2008 Olympics, we just need some pretty fountains. And a domed stadium. They can sleep in them when the hotels overflow.

This just disgusts me. I live in Birmingham. I lived in Southside for 8 months. In that 8 months, I saw one cop drive around our block. You know why? Not to round up the homeless drunks, or the thugs hanging around, but to hand out parking tickets. I've heard of countless cases of people being mugged in Five Points, and nobody does anything about it. There aren't any good schools in Birmingham, unless you are fortunate enough to live in Mountain Brook. If you're not filthy rich, and can't live there, you're forced to the suburbs to get your children in decent (decent is stretching it.) schools.
But no, Larry Langford, we don't need safer streets, and better schools for our chuldren. We need fountains. And a stadium.

There you have it, kids, my thought for the day. :)

I know this shows how out of date I am...but I didn't even know anyone was considering having the Olympics here! It is hard to imagine 184,589,342 people in Birmingham! I'm with you on that one.

I see what you mean about your rant...and I agree! I don't think the ham is quite ready for the olympics.

This nut has been pushing for a domed stadium for DECADES! He just figures the Olympics is another way to get one. I just amazes me that enough people actually voted him into office!
